AACCER - Volunteer Center

A voluntary gathering of people who share concerns about cancer.
Goal: The Volunteer Center will be eventually run by volunteers!

Internship/ volunteering opportunities:

Data Management Clerk:
Duties: clean data on data sheets, spot-check for error ...
compensation: $10/hr. (need for about a total of 20 hours)


Mandarin Classes Teacher(s):

proposed class schedule: Saturdays - Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, Dec 6 and 13
class A - 9:30am to 10:45am (for English speakers with no Mandarin learning before)
class B - 11:15am to 12:30pm (for Cantonese speakers to brush up or to learn Mandarin)
compensation for teacher: $50 per class or $300 per course
class A teacher requirements: Mandarin teaching experience, good English skill
class B teacher requirements: Mandarin teaching experience, speaks Cantonese.

Voice Over Participants & Voice File Clerk:
Requirements: * native speaker of either Cantonese or Mandarin; * able to
read and write Chinese

Nasopharyngeal Cancer Screening Clinic Assistant(s):
(on either Nov 11 or Nov 18 - 4-7pm)
Requirements: bilingual in Chinese/English preferred.
Place: ENT clinic of Tufts Medical Center in Chinatown.

Web Content Maintenance:
Updating different sections on "quincyasian.org" for
"Quincy Sun News Headline", "Quincy Happenings" and a new "Classifieds" section ... etc. 

Planning Associates:
Help plan two community initiatives
1. Mandarin Classes for English and Cantonese speakers
2. Interpreting Service conference (The importance of quality interpreting service)
Requirements: Chinese/English bilingual and biliterate preferred but not necessary

Benefits:
- great community service, event marketing/ outreach experience
- great learning opportunity about social research and data analysis
- will provide training on how to type Chinese and audio file editing …
